Before commencement you must complete the following easy steps to graduation: (May 2025 dates will be added in January)

File an intent-to-graduate form in your academic dean鈥檚 office early in your next-to-last semester of study. You should meet with your academic advisor prior to registering for your final semester鈥檚 classes.

Complete the courses for your final semester. Be sure that all 鈥淚鈥 (incomplete) grades are completed and all official transcripts from other universities are filed in the Registrar鈥檚 office. Deadline for "I" grades is October 17 and for transcripts is December 11.

Update your current address (where you presently reside) and your permanent address (parent or guardian鈥檚 address) online at: my.tcu.edu鈥tudent Center鈥ersonal Information. The addresses are important as you will receive mailings from the Registrar, the Chancellor鈥檚 office and other key University personnel concerning graduation. Your address also is provided to the professional photographer. (NOTE: If you have FERPA set on your account, your address will not be given.)
Complete . You may view your loans borrowed at TCU at: my.tcu.edu鈥inancial Aid鈥oan Summary. If you need help completing these requirements, please contact the Financial Aid office at financialaid@tcu.edu.
Satisfy all financial obligations in the Financial Services office by December 1.

Log onto my.tcu.edu, student home page and click Academic Records, Diploma/Cap and Gown Ordering. Once you have placed your diploma order, scroll to the bottom to order cap/gown. (Cap and gown orders placed after November 19 are subject to a late fee.) Graduates may keep the cap and tassel.

When ordering your diploma at my.tcu.edu, remember that tradition suggests your full name (First Middle Last) for the diploma; no nicknames or titles. The name published in the Commencement program will be the same as the name you have printed on your diploma. The deadline for online diploma ordering is November 3. All accounts must be paid by December 1.

Only the degree name prints on the diploma; majors, minors and concentrations print on the official transcript. Latin Honors are also printed on the diploma, and all honors are printed in the program. There are no cords for Latin Honors. Some organizations provide honor cords to wear with the gown. Contact your organization for this information.

If you cannot attend commencement, check the "Not Attending Commencement" box. Diplomas will be mailed after commencement if they are not picked up from the Registrar's office the week following commencement.

There are two options when ordering your regalia.

Home ship direct option -- deadline is 11/19鈥攐rders will ship directly to the student address within 21 days (normally 7-10)鈥

  • Students will receive a pre-paid return shipping label and they are required to ship their gown back with the label within a week following the ceremony
    • Home Ship direct students will need to return with the label and not at the ceremony and gowns will may not be dropped off at the bookstore

Bookstore ship for pick up option deadline is 11/2  

  • Students may not change their order to home ship after being placed鈥攏o exceptions
  • Students will return immediately regalia following the ceremony 鈥攇owns are not to be returned to the bookstore for any reason. 鈥
    • 鈥媁ednesday 12/11:  2 p.m.-5 p.m.
    • Thursday 12/12:  9 a.m.-5 p.m.
    • Friday 12/13:  9 a.m.-2 p.m.
    • Saturday 12/14: 2 hours prior to the ceremony time

Other Important Information

TCU is committed to providing an inclusive commencement experience. Students who have questions regarding disability-related accommodations may contact Student Access and Accommodation at 817-257-6567. In all situations, a good faith effort will be made to provide accommodation, but requests received fewer than 7 business days prior to the event may impact their ability to be implemented.

Commencement is a special event for everyone involved. Please show respect for all who have come to share in this landmark experience. Individuals who engage in appropriate or disruptive behavior may be removed from the event.

Please see ushers for lost and found. After Commencement, contact the TCU Police office at 3025 Lubbock Ave. or call 817-257-7777.

If you selected to pick up your regalia, dates and times at the TCU Campus Store (2950 W. Berry) are below:

  • Wednesday, Dec 11:  2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Dec 12:   9 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec 13:  9 a.m. 鈥 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec 14:  7 a.m. at the stadium

Caps/gowns are not available before these dates for pickup.

Grad Images and Balfour will be on hand to take pictures of all graduates. Links to purchase photos will be provided via email. 

NOTE: If you have FERPA set on your TCU account, your address will not be given to the professional photographers.

  • Any artificial noisemakers (i.e., air horns, cans filled with contents, etc.)
  • Balloons
  • Confetti
  • Smoking (Please note: TCU is a tobacco-free campus.)
  • Pets
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • TCU enforces a clear bag policy for all campus events.

Incomplete grade deadline is October 17 unless you have filed an extension or are working on your thesis/dissertation. You cannot graduate with an 鈥淚鈥 that has not been removed.
Deadline for receiving transcripts from another college is December 11. Please make arrangements with your professors at the other university in order to meet this deadline. If you have any trouble with this deadline, contact Kristi Harrison in the Registrar's office at 817-257-5090 or k.harrison@tcu.edu.

Before commencement, a walk-number card will be emailed to you. This card will indicate your place in the processional line. You must print out this card and present it at commencement to ensure you receive the correct diploma. If you lose this card, you must report to the Registrar's table located near the graduate line-up area on commencement day.

Seniors, now is the time to take your cap & gown photos. Guarantee your photo will be in the 2025 yearbook as well by participating in fall portrait days. Photos are available for purchase directly from the photographer. Cap & Gown provided.

2024-25 Senior Portrait Sessions Portraits are in the Brown-Lupton University Union, 3rd Floor 鈥 Hillel.

Plain clothes, as well as cap and gown (which will be provided), photos will be taken. The plain clothes photos will be used in the Yearbook, and the cap and gown photos can be ordered for personal use. Ordered photos will arrive in time to be mailed out with graduation announcements.
